Help us to end cosmetics and household products testing on animals!

Thank you for taking an interest in going cruelty free, to help keep animals out of cosmetics and household products testing.

Thanks to persistent campaigning, the BUAV achieved an EU-wide ban on animal testing for cosmetics in 2003. However, it won't come into effect in stages until 2009/2013 — our job is to ensure that this ban is carried through.

For household products however, many people are unaware that animal testing is still allowed all over the world. We must raise public awareness and educate key decision makers to bring about a change in policy. By lobbying the Government we are calling for a ban on animal testing for household products.

How you can help
  1. Cruelty free shopping

The easiest way to help keep animals out of research into cosmetics and household products is to use this website to help you make ethical shopping decisions. Simply use our search tool to find all our Standard-approved cruelty free companies.

  2. Make a difference by writing a letter

Do you have a favourite brand that is not approved under the cruelty free Standard? Companies will want to respond to consumer demand so if enough people contact them asking for ethical products, together we can bring about a change for laboratory animals. Have a look at our template letter for ideas.

  3. Become a cruelty free supporter

By registering your support, you will be kept up to date with the latest cruelty free news, be eligible for special offers on cosmetics and/or household products and have the opportunity to contribute to our campaigns.

  4. Make a donation
